Just driving into Virginia City Nevada will transport you back to the 1800s. It is among the most well preserved old mining towns. Of course it is a tourist town with retail stores lining the main street one after another, but there's great variety for the souvenir hunter. There's also museums, theatre shows, and of course a "boot hill". Oh, and did I mention there are slot machines all over.
For being one of the least populated states, Nevada is full of old mining towns and ghost towns. You could spend a couple of weeks visiting them all, but Virginia City must definitely be on the list of first places to see.
This booklet is an original 1953 brochure, it is not a reproduction. It measures 6 by 9 inches and is full of color photos. It's in fairly good condition but the front cover has a crease (that has been straightened out) and the back cover has a scrape on one of the corners. Inside it tells of the history and there are maps of the state of Nevada, the city of Virginia City, and a map that shows where the old mines were located.
