I was told by the previous owner that this hair band would be from sometime in the 1970s. She said she remembers visiting her grandparents in New Mexico and that they stopped by a roadside stand where Native Americans were making these. Her grandmother purchased this for her but she says she doesn't remember ever wearing it. It's sat in a 'memento box" for years.

It's made of seed beads, cowrie shells, and turquoise. I can't tell if the turquoise is actual stones or beads. I would think that the upper portion (where the beads, shells, and stones are) would have all been assembled first. It would have then been applied to a strip of leather or other hard yet flexible material. Then the back would have been applied. The back is covered with a cloth material and then sewn in to place. You can tell by the stitches that this is hand made. Also, and the end of the tie strings are also enclosed inside that cloth material.

The upper decorated portion measures 5.75 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Each tie string is roughly 6.5 inches long.

Delivery will be via USPS First Class Mail Parcel from California. Buyer to pay delivery charges of $4.40.

SHIPPING COST INFO:
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.

Also, every January the postal service increases shipping charges. This year, many price increases were a bit steep with some package categories adding as much as a dollar on to an already high shipping charge. I try to absorb some of the new charges but that's getting harder with each increase.

International shipping charges also took a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.

All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
