I purchased this ammo belt at an estate sale recently. I asked the seller if she knew any of the history behind it and she said all she knows is that it was her grandfathers. She said her grandfather passed away in 1950 and her father has kept the belt stored since then. She said she would estimate it to be anywhere from 1900 to 1930s time frame. Her father is going into a retirement home, and she is liquidating his estate.
Since I have zero knowledge about ammunition, I took the belt to my local Armory to ask their opinion. The owner there stuck a 30-30 cartridge in it and it fit perfectly. I guess, if there's other cartridges along that same size that they would fit also and I should have asked him, but didn't. I asked if he could guess an age for it and his opinion was possibly 1920s. I then asked if he could guess at a value and he said if he were selling it that he would ask $100.
The belt looks like something right out of the old west, along the line of what the western cowboy or outlaw would have used. The leather has a wonderful old worn look to it. It has double buckles. The buckle strap has 9 notches. I buckled both and measured the inside. Using the first notch, or at the largest measurement it was 34.5 inches. Using the 7th notch, or at the smallest measurement it was 32.5 inches. I did not attempt to measure it to the 9th notch because it will cinch if I do so. The entire length, end to end is 36 inches.
The height of the belt at the tallest point in the back is just under 6 inches. The height in the front where it buckles is 4.5 inches. It will hold 27 cartridges.
CONDITION:
There are several hair line cracks. These cracks appear to only be on the surface and do not reach down in to the 'meat" of the leather. I believe you can see this in my photos that appear below this description.

Also, every January the postal service increases shipping charges. This year, many price increases were a bit steep with some package categories adding as much as a dollar on to an already high shipping charge. I try to absorb some of the new charges but that's getting harder with each increase.
International shipping charges also took a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
