I obtained this very old Native American Indian pestle grinding stone from an elderly gentleman who was selling off his treasures ahead of a move into an assisted living home. If I had to guess, I'd say he was well into his 80s.
He stated he personally found the stone when he was a kid while visiting family in east Tennessee. He said that while the adults visited, a few cousins would take him and his brother for adventurous walks along a river, but he didn't remember which river it was. He remembered gathering some arrowheads, some pieces of broken pottery, and an old pipe. His kids wanted to keep the arrowheads and old pipe, but no one wanted this old heavy stone.
The pestle stone measures almost 10 inches long and is 2.25 inches across at the widest point in the middle. Each end tapers down to a size of about 1.75 inches.
SHIPPING:
Due to the weight of this solid stone, I'm quoting delivery via USPS Priority Flat Rate box. It would fit in the Flat Rate envelope, but there would be absolutely no room for packing material to protect it and it would surely arrive in many pieces. The box allows plenty of room to add protective materials. However, if you live in Arizona or very near, regular Priority Mail may be a couple of dollars less. Feel free to send me your zipcode and I can let you know which option would be best for you.
The package will arrive insured and with Signature Confirmation required, meaning someone will have to sign for it when delivered. Since those two safeguards are for the protection of us both, I split that cost with the buyer.
That being said, buyer to pay $9.95 delivery costs. Mailing is from California.
