This listing contains two items, one being a pack of Chesterfield cigarettes, the other being a book of matches. The cigarettes have the Seal of the President of the United States and state 'Welcome Aboard The Presidential Aircraft'. The matchbook has the same seal with the back side showing the aircraft in clouds and state 'Aboard The Presidential Aircraft'.
When purchased recently at an estate sale, the informational card presented with this pack of cigarettes and book of matches stated they were from either the Kennedy or Johnson Presidency. Researching them, there were two factors I concentrated on. One being that the maker's zipcode is included with the address, and the other is that they have the Surgeon General's warning.
First, the zipcode:
The postal service started using zipcodes in 1963, so while it's possible these were from the Kennedy administration, it's not likely.
Next, the health warning:
In 1965, Congress required all cigarette packages distributed in the United States to carry a health warning, but I could not find an actual date when the statement actually began appearing.
The warning date definitely means these were not from Kennedy's presidency.
So my guess, and it's only a guess based on the vintage appearance of both the cigarettes and the matches, is that these were from the Johnson or Nixon presidency.
CONDITION:
The cigarettes are unopened. The cellophane at the top is a little bit loose, but still sealed. Between the cigarette packaging and the cellophane sleeve there are small pieces of tobacco
The matches have been used, but most remain. I'd guess 4 or 5 of the matches were used. the strike strip shows evidence of usage.

Also, every January the postal service increases shipping charges. This year, many price increases were a bit steep with some package categories adding as much as a dollar on to an already high shipping charge. I try to absorb some of the new charges but that's getting harder with each increase.
International shipping charges also took a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
