I'm guessing that this set of Speedball Calligraphy nibs date to the 1950s. I'm not sure though because I purchased them at an estate sale along with several other brands and partial sets. (See my other listings for the additional sets).
There are 23 nibs. The complete set would have been 24, so only 1 is missing. The nibs are still attached to their original store display card. On the card, and under each nib, it shows what type of line that particular nib will make.
The printing on the front of the card reads:
THE COMPLETE ASSORTMENT OF SPEEDBALL PENS
STYLE 'A" SQUARE TIPS for Square Gothic and Block Letters
STYLE 'B" ROUND TIPS for Round Gothics or Uniform Lines
THE LITTLE WIZARDS OF ARTCRAFT
TRIPLE RESERVOIR PENS
A POINT FOR EVERY DRAWING AND LETTERING USE
(the only pens with a distributing reservoir over marking tip)
STYLE 'C" OBLONG TIPS for Roman, Text and Shaded Italics
STYLE 'D" OVAL TIPS for Bold Roman, Texts, Italics, Etc.
The back of the card has the 8 steps for holding and using the nibs, as well as advertisements for Speedball inks.
I see no evidence that any of them were used in the past.
