This biscuit or cookie tin is from W.R. Jacob & Company of Liverpool England. Jacob & Co. have been in business since 1883 and was known as the biscuit cookie maker of the Queen.
I obtained the tin at an estate sale. When I purchased it, it was full of old buttons (buttons not included in this listing). It had a post-it note on it that stated the estimated date for it would be 1940s to 1950s. Doing the research on the tin and seeing so many fabulous vintage tins, I'd say that time frame would be accurate.
Vintage tins have numerous uses such as a sewing kit, a desk organizer, a remote control resting tin or just a stash box for your favorite keepsakes. Personally, I have tins in various places on my bookcase to keep a lively decor.
The tin has a pull off lid. It measures 8 inches across and is 2.5 inches tall. The outside is in above good condition. There are no dings or dents. The inside has darkened due to various items sliding around inside for many years. The side is marked "6 mb container made in England". There are 2 notices on the bottom, one explaining what you see in the photo and the other that states "Jacob & Co's Sweet Assorted Biscuits, Minimum Net Weight 15 oz. Code ABPS".

The cost that I am stating is for USPS Priority Mail delivery from California to the east coast. If you are not located in or near the east coast, your shipping cost may be less. I'll be happy to refund a portion of my stated costs should you overpay, OR you can send me your zipcode and I can give you an accurate quote and change the shipping amount to reflect the correct charges should you decide to proceed with the purchase.
The tin is too large to fit into any of the postal flat rate boxes. That being said, buyer to pay no more than $9.95 delivery charges and possibly less depending on your location.
SHIPPING CHARGE INFO:
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
Also, every January the postal service increases shipping charges. This year, many price increases were a bit steep with some package categories adding as much as a dollar on to an already high shipping charge. I try to absorb some of the new charges but that's getting harder with each increase.
International shipping charges also took a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
