This set of King's Four In Hand whiskey glasses belong to a friend of mine. Her mother worked at the restaurant for many years. It was owned by King Wong and was located on Beverly Blvd in the area of San Vicente. It was a very popular fine dining establishment that was frequented by many of the Hollywood elite. It closed sometime in the mid to late 1980s when Cedar Sanai Hospital expanded.
The glasses stand about 3.5 inches tall and measure 2.75 inches across. They are clear glass. One side says "King's" and has a drawing of horses. One side says "Four In Hand", and one side says "The Star and Garter". They do not say "Los Angeles".
I've tried to research for a couple of years now for anything regarding King's Four In Hand. All I've ever found was a book of matches that someone was selling and they were asking big bucks, so the restaurant's items are either very rare now, or people do not want to part with them.
The glasses are in excellent condition. I can remember seeing them displayed in the mother's china cabinet for many years, so it's been a long time since they were last used. I like to wonder which famous Hollywood personality might have held one while relaxing in the bar area after a long day on a movie set.
