This pin was part of a large lot of over 700 military DUI DI insignia pins purchased at an estate sale. The seller was an avid collector of military items and he specialized in the WWII and Vietnam era.
When I obtained it, it was attached to a small piece of cardboard where the past owner had written "American Defense WWII?". I'm not sure why he added the question mark (?) after WWII. I tried to research the pin, but could find little info, so I'm not sure if it's from the WWII time frame or not.
It measures 3/4 inch across by 1-1/8th inch tall. It is gold in color with a red, blue, and yellow enameled top area. It has the motto of "American Defense" on the bottom portion. The back is unmarked, but there is an outline of a small box that may have the maker's info listed. The back has a double clutch holder.

Although small, when wrapped it will exceed the postal limit of one quarter of an inch for normal envelope mailing. Delivery will be via USPS First Class Mail Package from Nevada. Buyer to pay delivery charges of $5.75.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year.
