This pin was part of a large lot of over 700 military DUI DI insignia pins purchased at an estate sale. The seller was an avid collector of military items and he specialized in the WWII and Vietnam era. Unfortunately, I do not know the date of this pin but the design was approved in 1971.
The card that it was attached to states "Support Com". The pin measures 1-1/4 inch across by 1-1/4 inch tall at the widest points. It is enameled. It has the unit motto of "Lifeline For Freedom" on the front.
I have two of this particular pin. One is marked on the back with "E23 Made in USA", the other one is marked "N.S. Meyer Inc. New York" and has two shields. If you have a preference as to which one you'd like, just let me know. Both pins have a double clutch holder.
Although small, when wrapped it will exceed the postal limit of one quarter of an inch for normal envelope mailing. Delivery will be via USPS First Class Mail Package. Buyer to pay delivery charges of $5.75.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
