42nd U.S. Army Artillery DUI insignia pin with the motto “Festina Lente”. The pin measures roughly 1 inch by 1 inch.
The back is marked with the letter P in a circle. According to the Office of Heraldry that mark designates that the pin was made by the Carl Poellath Company in Germany. The history on the Carl Poellath company states they began venturing into military badges during the 1st World War, and ended badge production during WWII. Going by that, this insignia pin would be from the WWI to WWII time frame. The pin has double clutch holders.
CONDITION: The pin is in great condition with no major scrapes or scratches. All enamel and metal pieces are present with no chips or cracks.
The pin is part of a large collection of insignia pins that I purchased at an estate sale. It is attached to a small thin cardboard square. The writing on the cardboard was put there by the previous owner and that's great because I can't imagine how long it would take me to look up and obtain information on over 700 pins. The previous owner wrote "42nd ART" on the cardboard holder.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
