84th U.S. Army Tank Battalion DUI insignia pin. It has the ‘Paratus Semper Et Ubique’ motto along the bottom. It has the old type C pin clasp on the back. The pin measures just over 1 inch.
The dark spots that you see in my photo are reflections and are not part of the pin.
The back is marked ‘NS Meyer Inc. New York’, and has the number 9M. According to the Office of Heraldry that mark means it was made up until 1965. That type of number, combined with the C type closure was used as early as WWII.
The pins were part of a large collection of insignia pins that I purchased at an estate sale. They are attached to a small thin cardboard square. The writing on the cardboard was put there by the previous owner and that's great because I can't imagine how long it would take me to look up and obtain information on over 700 pins. The previous owner wrote "84th Tank Batt” on the cardboard holders.
