87th U.S. Army Support Battalion DUI insignia pin. It has the ‘Base of the Pyramid’ motto along the bottom. The pin measures just over 1 inch.
The dark spots that you see in my photo are reflections and are not part of the pin.
The back is marked ‘G23 Ira Green Inc. Made in U.S.A.’. According to the Office of Heraldry that mark means it was made from 1965 to 1978.
The pins were part of a large collection of insignia pins that I purchased at an estate sale. They are attached to a small thin cardboard square. The writing on the cardboard was put there by the previous owner and that's great because I can't imagine how long it would take me to look up and obtain information on over 700 pins. The previous owner wrote "87th Support BN” on the cardboard holders.
