An aspergillum is used by dipping it into a vessel of holy water and then sprinkling the water over people or objects to bless them, typically during a religious ceremony in the Catholic, Lutheran, or Anglican church; essentially, it's a tool for distributing holy water by sprinkling it with small holes at the end of a handle.”
I purchased this recently at an estate sale. Speaking with the seller, she said she purchased it from a religious supply house. Her purpose was to take it with her to visit her mother who was ill. She wanted to bless and cleanse her mother and her home. She said that unfortunately, she did not make it in time, thus, this Aspergillum has never been used. She no longer had the original box.
This holy water sprinkler is gold in color and measures just over 11 inches long. It is made of metal that I assume is brass. The handle screws in to the top. The handle has a medieval period type of design.
When I first brought it home and examined it, I could not figure out how to open it to add in the holy water. There was just no place to open it. Then I went to google to see what I could find. That’s where I found the beginning quote I’ve used at the top of this listing. I read that there is a small sponge type of material in the top that when it’s dipped into the water, it absorbs water and the sprinkling motion disperses the water out.
It will arrive with two pieces in the box. Just screw the handle back on. It is a fairly heavy item with a shipping weigh of 2 pounds. The package will be insured and will require a signature for delivery. Buyer to pay $9.95 USPS Priority Mail charges. Delivery is from Arizona.

Here’s the reason for the high charges….. Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become more profitable.
On top of the three increases, the postal service has now divided the nation in to 8 postal zones. Each time a package crosses into another zone, the price increases. I am in Arizona, so most all of my shipments pass through multiple zones.
It's a 10 year plan that the postal service started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases of shipping charges each year. I fear seeing what the costs will be at the end of the plan. …..
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items can fit safely into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs.
