This is going to be one of the most difficult descriptions to come up with because honestly I have no idea what these cups were used for. I purchased them about 10 years ago at a yard sale and even the seller didn’t know what they were for. I collect casino items so I had to have them, but it’s time to clear out some of my treasures.
The eight cups include:
1 blank cup with no writing
1 from MGM that features the roaring lion’s head
6 from Harolds Club in Reno Nevada
A one dollar metal coin and casino private label metal one dollar coins fit perfectly in the cups with just a tiny bit of ‘wiggle’ room. I do not know if clay, plastic, or acrylic poker chips fit as I do not have any to test.
They are all made of a acrylic material and are all the same exact size. They are 1/8th inch thick, stand 2 inches tall, and measure 1 and 5/8ths inch across the bottom. The bottoms have a 1/4 inch round opening, and there are openings on the sides at the bottom, so that rules out them being for any kind of liquid or usage as a shot glass.
As for possible usage, my guess is they sat in recessed areas of a craps table, a blackjack table, or a roulette table and held the dollar coins.
I do not know the age on the cups but going by appearance I’d say they are all the same time frame. I researched Harolds Club because I know it is closed and found it was in operation from 1935 to 1995. That would mean that these cups are at least 30 years old.
If you know what these cups are for, I’d love to know the answer.
Buyer to pay $6.99 USPS First Class package postage charges. Shipping is from Arizona.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items can fit safely into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
SPECIAL NOTE about SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly and again in November for the holiday season (so 3 times each year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their “Delivering for America” plan in which they hope to become profitable. It’s a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we’ve got years to go with multiple price increases each year. I try to absorb some of the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year, unfortunately, I have to increase the shipping. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the changes when possible
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES: Sorry, I do not ship to locations outside of the United States.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
