From the inside front flap of the dust cover:
Dog Heroes of September 11th, A Tribute to America's Search and Rescue Dogs, is the first major publication to salute the canines that served our nation in the recovery missions following the terrorists" strikes on America. A testament to man's best friend and his most critical role in American history, this book pays tribute to 78 canine heroes and their handlers, retelling their heart stirring stories and photographically capturing many defining moments of the days that followed September 11, 2001. Nona Kilgore Bauer, an award winning canine journalist and author, interviewed the handlers who participated in the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Fresh Kills landfill, the site to which the remains of the fallen towers were transported.
This is a 'coffee table" type larger book measuring 10 by 10.5 inches. There are 232 pages. It is full of photos and stories about the dogs, the work they did, the discoveries they made. There is a chapter towards the back that tells about the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, how it was organized after the Oklahoma City bombings, how they train the dogs, and some of the people involved.
The book is in excellent condition. There is no writing, no torn pages, and the dust cover is in very good condition also. The book looks like it just came off the store shelf.
Buyer to pay USPS Media Mail delivery charges of $7.75. Depending on your location, Media Mail can take 4 to 10 days for delivery. If you would prefer Priority Mail for quicker delivery just let me know and I can give you a quote on that service. Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, or American territories will have to be via Priority Mail as the postal service will not quote a delivery time for Media Mail to those locations.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items will safely fit into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASED: Sorry, I do not ship to locations outside of the United States.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they come from homes where smoking or pets were present. Unless otherwise stated, all items are sold in the same condition as when I obtained them.
