This vintage and very beautiful Byzantine Mosaic Cross was hand made in Florence, Italy. Italian Artisans crafted these exquisite pieces using enameled glass. It is marked on the back “Italy”.
The design is of flowers, a heart, a star, and others symbols crafted into silver metal. I believe (but am not positive) that the metal is silver plate. The pendant measures approximately 1.5 vertically, by 7/8ths inch horizontally. It will come in a gold colored small pouch.
I purchased it at an estate sale. The seller says that she knows for a fact that her mother purchased it in Vatican City on one of their vacations.
