This bolo tie is shaped like the state of Arizona. It features a monument at Fort Thomas Arizona, the birth place of Melvin Jones, the founder of the Lions Club.
The wording imprinted on the metal states “Fort Thomas Arizona the birthplace of Melvin Jones January 13, 1879”. There is an image of Melvin Jones that states “Melvin Jones 1879 �" 1961”. It has an American Flag flying over Fort Thomas and says Centennial Anniversary 1879 �" 1979. Lastly, there is a Lions logo. I believe the metal is brass.
The cord is dark magenta or plum in color. Laid out, from end to end the cord measures just under 31 inches long. The cord has metal end caps that are silver in color.
I purchased it at an estate sale along with about a dozen other bolos that I will be listing. The info card on the table said all bolos are estimated to be from the 1970s and were worn very little, if at all. This listing is for the one bolo you see in my photo.
