This elephant statue measures about 2.25 inches tall, 1.25 inches side to side at the hips, 2.5 inches front to back. It is carved from soapstone. Looking through the openings, you’ll see a small baby elephant. Sorry that my photo doesn’t show the baby very well, but I took about a dozen pictures to get it to show up and this pictures was the best of them all.
I believe it was carved from one solid piece because I see no seams anywhere, but how else could the inside elephant have been carved?
It’s in great condition with no chips or breakage. There is the remants of a sticket on the bottom. The age is unknown to me as I purchased it at an estate sale.
