Description on back of card:
The "Bottle House" was built during the boom days in 1905 by Tom Kelly. Some 50,000 liquor bottles were used in the construction of the foundations and walls. Located in the Ghost City of Rhyolite, near Daylight Pass entering Death Valley from Beatty Nevada.
Other markings on the back are:
Published by Frashers, Inc. Pomona Calif (NOTE the 5 letters in the Calif abbreviation)
Color by Frashers
F.C.320 and 3833
and 2 small Frashers logos
I am estimating the date of this card to be late 1950s to early 1960s. The reasoning behind that determination is the way California is abbreviated on the back. You'll notice the location of the publisher as being Pomona Calif. In October 1963 state abbreviations were changed to the 2 letter format that is used today, so the card has to be from before 1963.
The card measures roughly 3.5 by 5.5 inches. It's very bright in color. The card has straight even edges. The card has a divided back, meaning one side for the address and one side for writing a message. Although not stated on the card, I believe this is called a photochrome postcard.
I recently purchased a few dozen older postcards at an estate sale. The subjects of the cards are in and around The Las Vegas area. They are of 'old Vegas" and many are of the old casinos and hotels that have long ago been demolished. I do combine shipping on multiple purchases (see shipping notes below), so be sure to check out my other items
CONDITION:
I am not a postcard collector and don't know how to 'rate" postcards. Personally, I think the card is in great condition for being over 50 years old.
SHIPPING:
Buyer to pay $2.50 First Class Mail delivery charges. That cost will cover up to the purchase of 4 postcards.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items will safely fit into a single box. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASED: Sorry, I do not ship to locations outside of the United States.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they come from homes where smoking or pets were present. Unless otherwise stated, all items are sold in the same condition as when I obtained them.
