24th U.S. Army Infantry DUI insignia pin. The pin measures just over an inch round.
This pin was just one of over 700 pins in a collection that I purchased at an estate sale. Of all those pins, this one has a hallmark on the back that is unlike any of the others. It's a one of a kind. The hallmark on the back of this pin is a crown and the letters HM in an oval circle. I spent days searching online for any information about that hallmark and finally found one small reference to it.
I located a military forum and one of the contributors on that forum posted the following: I dug out of the Asmic Special ops catalog. There are two entries in the "part II" section that gives credit to HM- Historic Memorabilia- Ira Green, and on the opposite page there's another entry for the 7th Ranger Co. It is known as HM Historic Militaria- Ira Green.
That's it. After hours and hours of research, that's all I could find about a crown with an HM hallmark.
The pin has double clutch holders on the back. All enamel and metal pieces are present with no chips or cracks.
The previous owner attached each pin to a small cardboard square and labeled them. That's great because I can't imagine how long it would take me to look up and obtain information on over 700 pins. The previous owner wrote "24thd Infantry" on this pins cardboard holder. I'm using his information. He was the expert, so hopefully the information is correct.

SPECIAL NOTE about SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly and again in November for the holiday season (so 3 times each year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their “Delivering for America” plan in which they hope to become profitable. It’s a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we’ve got years to go with multiple price increases each year. I try to absorb some of the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year, unfortunately, I have to increase the shipping.
