This hinged turtle trinket box measures 1.75 inches nose to tail. The base metal is pewter. It is enamel coated and its shell has cabochon gemstones. I do not know what the gem is but it's brownish in color. The turtle's two eyes are amber or pinkish colored Austrian crystals.
The inside is pearled enameled and is light green in color. There is a magnetic closure. The inside is marked with two Fleur de lis symbols with the letters CR between them.
I recently purchased a large collection of these enamel gemmed trinket boxes at an estate sale. There's just about every type of animal in the collection.
