I obtained this tie bar recently at an estate auction. It was part of a small box of items that I bid on and won. I believe this is from the 1940s and may be related somehow to the Indiana School of Nursing.
Inside this small box was a manila envelope containing school records such as grade cards, a few photos, a few pieces of jewelry like this one, and some personal letters. According to the school records, this woman attended the Indiana School of Nursing in the mid 1940s. It's my belief that this tie bar came from that era.
This tie bar measures 2-1/4 inches long. Each side piece chain is 1-3/4 inches long. At the bottom of the chain is a pendant featuring a gold cross on white background. At the top of this pendant is what I'd call an Aladdin's lamp or Genie lamp. This pendant is about 1/2 inch tall by 3/8ths inch across at the widest point.
