There are no markings on this spice shaker to help identify an age and I obtained it at an estate sale, so no one to ask. Researching it online, I could not find another one like it. I did see one that was very close that stated it to be from the 1950s and rare.
This one stands 5 inches tall which makes me think it was not for salt or pepper. My guess would be it was used for some type of steak spice. There are 5 holes in the top that are wider than normal, so thats another clue. When I obtained it, there was no stopper, but I have an assortment of corks and found one that fits perfectly.
It is ceramic. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.
