4th Air Defense Artillery U.S. Army DUI Insignia Pin. When I obtained it, it was attached to a small homemade cardboard square. Written on the cardboard it says "4th Air Def Art". That would have been written by a past owner.
The pin measures 1-1/8th by 7/8ths of an inch. On the front, it has the motto of "Audacia" along the bottom. The back is marked "N.S. Meyer Inc. New York". There are also two shields on the back, one says 22M, and I believe the other one is the Meyer logo. The back has a double clutch holder. One post is slightly bent, but that is not affecting the security of the clutch attachment.
The coloring is very vibrant and the pin is in excellent condition.
I obtained a large lot of pins recently at an estate sale of a man who was a very serious pin collector. I was told he served in Vietnam so that was the time frame he specialized in but that he also collected pins from as early as WWI, WWII, and Korean War time frames. Unfortunately, there is nothing that gives me a clue as to the date of this pin.
This gentleman is moving into an assisted living facility, so his estate is being liquidated. The large lot of pins that I purchased consisted of 723 pins that he collected. I will list them several at a time in between my normal estate sale finds. If there is a particular unit's pin that you are searching for, just let me know because there's a good chance I'll have it.
