This listing is for a pipe case, or holder, only. There is no pipe.
It is a hard case, black in color and possibly leather. Inside, the top of the case is lined with a smooth white satin like material, the bottom is lined with a soft feather like material that is white in color. The inside is marked "Genuine Block Meerschaum, Hand Made". The outside is marked "Made in Austria". It measures six inches long.
As to the age, I really don't know as I obtained it at an estate sale. If I had to guess, I'd say probably 1940s.
CONDITION: The case closes with a firm tight click. But, it does have some issues. Namely, there are several scrapes, mainly around the opening and I assume those are from someone slipping their thumbnail in to pull it open. Also, there are a couple of small spots of rust around the hinges. There are no dents.
