Huishan clay figurines are one of the most well known folk arts of China. Huishan clay figures have a history that goes back 400 years. The hand made figures depict a variety of characters largely based on traditional Chinese operas and the Chinese culture.
This little girl with her rosy red cheeks has never been used. She is a coin bank, the slot is in the front just under her neck. She is still in her original styrofoam packaging, but has no box. I purchased her at an estate sale where the seller said the figurine would date to the 1950s to early 1960s. She said her father would travel to China with his job during that time frame and would always bring his daughters a present back. This was one of her presents.
The figurine measures 7 inches tall. The coloring is very vibrant and I see no scratches or cracking. The stopper is still inserted on the bottom. She will come with her original hang tag. The tag is written in Chinese, and I don't read Chinese so I have no idea what it says.
