I purchased this old bell recently at an estate sale so I have no personal knowledge regarding it. It did have an index card with it that said “early to mid century old bell”. I don’t know who wrote that or what research was done to determine that statement, but the bell does have a wonderful old look to it and most likely is from that date range. .
All around the bell are raised diagrams of people and animals.
The bell measures 4 inches tall to the top of the handle. The bottom measures just over 2.5 inches across. As for the material that it is made of, my guess, and it’s only a guess, would be cast iron. I say that because it is a very heavy bell for it’s size. I know brass is heavy also, but not as heavy as this bell is. So, it’s either cast iron or brass.
I do not see any markings. There may be one, but if so it’s hidden inside.
Due to the weight of the bell, shipping would be via USPS Priority Mail at the two pound rate. Buyer to pay $10.95 shipping charges.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases the shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
