1950 era squeaky doll

What a head full of curly hair on this little boy! He stands 8 inches tall. He is a squeaky toy and his squeaker still works. His design was based on a character from a Ruth E. Newton children's book.
The paint has a few small fading spots and the tip of his left shoe has a couple of tiny chips (too small to give you a measurement on), but other than that I see no cracks or tears in him. I did rinse him off, but he should be cleaned when he gets to his new home.
The back of his neck states Mfg by Sun Rubber Co., Barberton Ohio, Made in U.S.A., Ruth E. Newton, New York NY. After that, it has the number 49. I do not know if that number means it was made in 1949, but it's at least from the 1950s.
