The dream catcher is a handmade object based on a willow hoop, on which is woven a loose net or web. The dream catcher is then decorated with personal and sacred items such as feathers and beads.
The theory is that only good dreams would be allowed to filter through,.bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day.
I obtained several dream catchers at an estate sale. They were all individually wrapped in tissue paper. I was told they were purchased about 10 years ago at a gift stand in New Mexico and that they were hand made by the owners of the stand. They have never been displayed.
This one measures 12 inches side to side. It has 7 strands. It has brown netting with multi colored beads and brown and white feathers.
