This Chevy Impala Custom emblem is not a reproduction, it is original and was taken off a 1971 model that belonged to my neighbor. It measures 6 inches long and is chrome with white edges. There are 3 mounting pegs on the back. Also on the back it says ""General Detroit" and has the part number of 9840507.
This emblem is for model years of 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1976.
While researching this, I saw several others out on the internet. Most say they are copies, or reproductions. You can tell the difference by looking at the writing. See in my photo how the short part at the top of the letter 'I" in Impala is very close to the long vertical line in the 'I'? On the reproductions, that letter 'I" has a wide loop at the top as well as the other letters being wide. Also, notice how the emblem I am offering has slanted writing? The reproductions are straight up and down lettering with no slanting.
CONDITION:
There is no breakage or chips on the emblem. However, I have not cleaned it as I don't know what to use safely on the chrome. Also, the white areas that highlight the letters have small amounts of paint missing in several places. Personally, I don't think it's bad but I thought I should mention it. So, if you know how to clean these things, and what to use to clean them, you can obtain this authentic emblem that came right off a 1971 Impala.
