I really have no idea what the original purpose of this tool was. I purchased it, along with a few others, at an estate sale. I was told by the seller that these were her grandfather's tools and he used them on horse's hoofs. The jaw end may have been used to pull a horseshoe off because of the opening. The jaw end does not close all the way and leaves about a 5/8ths inch opening. The handle ends are a mystery. I have no idea what those ends could have been used for.
The tool is 8.75 inches long. It is marked 'VIM215'. I have researched that part number and VIM tools, but can find nothing like this. It is old, but unknown how old. It has a nice patina built up and I will leave that for the next owner. In fact, you will receive it just as I did.
