Homies are a series of 2-inch figurines based upon Chicano (Mexican American) characters in the life of artist David Gonzales. They were first created in 1997, coming from a comic strip that David Gonzales created. These plastic figurines initially sold in vending machines mainly located in supermarkets. Homies have become a highly collectible item among fans.
These two Homies figurines are from the very first set. They are not dated, but since Homies were created in 1997, and since these are part of the first series, I would assume they date to 1997. Looking at my photo, the one on the left is Sapo, the one on the right with the suspenders is Big Loco. They are still in their original see-thru plastic 'egg'.
By the way, the nickel is not included. It is there for size comparison only.
