This is one of a couple dozen antique prints/photos that I recently picked up at an estate sale. I've never purchased or offered art before because I have zero knowledge of that field, but during this two day estate sale, whatever was left at the end was going to the dump. These pictures just looked too old and too beautiful to let that happen.

This listing is for the one print that you see in my photo. I will be offering all the others as time permits.

I spent hours researching this print in an attempt to provide accurate information. I'm sure I viewed thousands of photos. I finally stumbled upon a Fratelli Alinari Museum website and that's where I've obtained most of the info below.

According to the museum website:
This print is titled "The verification of the stigmata of St. Francis". Fresco by Giotto, in the Bardi Chapel of the Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence".
Original date of artwork: 1325ca
Style: gothic
Date of image: circa 1900
Location: Florence, Basilica of Saint Croce, The Bardi Chapel

There is printed information along the bottom. I will state what that says but where I have an * means I can't read the letter or symbol.
Along the bottom of the photo it reads "(Ed.* Alinari) P.* 2.* N.* 3933. FIRENZE - Chiesa di S. Croce. S. Francesco morio, circondato dai suoi confratelli. (Giotto.)". Also at the bottom left, someone penciled page 41 & 52, but it's so small and faint that it doesn't show in my listing picture.

From Wikipedia:
Fratelli Alinari is the world's oldest photographic firm founded in Florence, Italy in 1852. Its archives contains 5.5 million photographs, ranging from daguerreotypes to modern digital photos from around the world. In 1852, Leopoldo Alinari, with his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo, founded the photographic workshop specializing in photographic portraiture, photos of art and historical monuments. Their photos range from vintage prints, glass plate negatives to film and fotocolors.

This photo measures just over 7.5 by 10 inches. It was mounted on thick pressed cardboard. (This all looks to be original and mounted at the same time the picture was made). Including the cardboard the actual size comes out to just under 12 by 10 inches.

I'm not sure what type of image this is because it's permanently attached to the cardboard backing. For fear of damaging it, I choose not to try to loosen an area to feel the thickness to determine the type, but I believe it is a print.

CONDITION:
For being in the area of 100 years old, I think it's in excellent condition. When lying flat on a table, there is a very slight curve to the cardboard. I would think that could be pressed out if it concerns you.

There are no rips tears or gouges.

Let me add that as stated above, I know nothing about art. I have tried to the best of my ability to describe what I see and what I've read about these prints. If you have further questions, or if you have any info you'd like to offer, just shoot me a 'question for seller" note and I'll try my best to provide a competent answer.

Buyer to pay USPS First Class Mail Parcel delivery charges of $4.99.

All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT POSSIBLE PARTIAL REFUND OF SHIPPING CHARGES:
Every January the U.S. Postal Service increases the shipping prices. This year's increase is beyond any we've seen in previous years. Before the 2019 increase, shipping costs were based on weight. A package weighing less than one pound cost the same amount regardless if it was mailed 2 miles away, or from coast to coast. Packages weighing over 1 pound were priced by what the destination zipcode was.

Now, the postal service has divided the United States in to 8 zones and all packages are charged by weight, size, and destination zone. Now it is not possible to state a shipping cost and have it be valid regardless if the package is traveling 2 miles or all the way to the east coast. I am in Nevada and probably 90% of the packages I mail go eastward, and a majority of them go all the way to the east coast.

To complicate this even further, Google will not show items for sale unless they have a designated cost, or unless the seller uses calculated shipping. My web host is not equipped to figure calculated shipping, so I have to quote a shipping charge using the east coast as the final destination and then refund over payments. When I return the overage, I usually do so by including cash inside the package when it's shipped. My feedback page will show verification that I do return overpayments.

As a buyer, there are two choices. If you over pay on the shipping charges, I refund an appropriate amount to cover the over payment OR if you'd like to send me a message stating your zip code and the item you are interested in, I can quote you an exact shipping charge and send you a custom invoice with an accurate shipping charge.

About Combined Shipping:
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased, but as stated above, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of over payment. If you are uncomfortable with that, send me a message with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.

INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES
Due to claims that merchandise is not being received at various international countries (although Customs tracking verifies the delivery), I will no longer be able to process international orders unless payment is made with U.S. currency, including conversion fees. Orders will be processed after funds have cleared a U.S. bank. PAYPAL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
