This throat protector personal armor was troop issued clothing. I purchased it at an estate sale. I questioned how much usage it's had because the side with the label looks to have a light stain but was told it was never used and what I thought was a stain is actually slight camouflage, so I'm taking their word for it.
According to the label, it was manufactured by 'Specialty Defense Systems" and carries a part number of 8470-01-491-8477. The date of mfg is 09-04. It also has a lot number and a serial number.
There is a padded insert with another label that has its own information. Problem is, it is fitted inside in a way that makes it almost impossible to read the label. I can see that it says "Body Armor Interceptor Ballistic Panel" and has the same date of 09-04. It looks like there are serial numbers on it also, but I don't want to pull on the outer shell too much and take a change on tearing something.
If these things go by size, there is no size listed. The middle area (the section with the added padding) measures 9.75 inches long at the mid point. Each end has a strip that measures 3.75 inches and has two snaps each.
