Friendship Album quilt pattern with stencil templates. From Best Loved Quilt Patterns Series by Oxmoor House Inc. 1994.
From the introduction:
Friendship quilts were common during the pioneer days when women made and signed blocks for a friend who was moving away. Many of these quilts, enhanced by the elegant penmanship common in those days are still in existence. Some of these heirlooms had blocks that were signed in permanent ink. Others were elaborately embroidered by their makers. Some were simply signed and then embroidered later by the recipient.
To design this striking quilt in the picture, Mable Webb sent pieces of muslin to celebrities for their signatures. She then embroidered over the inked signatures to preserve them. You may want to try this clever idea with your favorite celebrities or with family and friends.
About the series:
This is one of probably a hundred quilt patterns that I will be listing. These patterns were part of a monthly subscription series. Each month, the recipient would receive a pack of 3 different patterns. It took a couple of years to obtain the complete set.
The pattern and templates offered in this listing were designated in the Patchwork Mosaics category. You will receive the brochure which tells the finished sizes, fabric requirements, the amount of pieces to cut, and instructions for piecing the quilt together. You will also receive an actual template that is the exact size needed to cut all the pieces of material. The template is made of a hard, yet flexible plastic.
This pattern has never been used. If you receive a templates that appears to have been cut out, that's because when first mailed out, templates for 2 or more quilts may have been imprinted on one 8 by 12 inch template sheet. To provide you with just the templates that you'll need for making this quilt, I had to separate them from unrelated templates.
Buyer to pay USPS First Class Mail parcel delivery charges of $2.95. Mailing is from Arizona.
SHIPPING COST INFO:
Every January the postal service increases shipping charges. Sellers have already been notified that this January the cost of shipping will increase between 6% and 10%. I try to absorb some of the new charges but that's getting harder with each increase.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of over payment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
International shipping charges will also take a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
