This is one of many pieces of jewelry purchased recently at a higher end jewelry estate sale.
This brooch pin is what I would consider large in size. It measures 4 inches from the bottom of the stem to the top of the rose and is about 2.5 inches across at the widest point.
Although gold in color, it is marked 'Sterling'. I believe gold colored sterling is called 'Vermeil'. I did a google search as to why something marked sterling would be gold in color and I found the following definition: "Vermeil pieces appear to be gold but are much cheaper and lighter than solid gold. It is a traditional luxury material used for table plate, grand decorative pieces and jewelry."
The piece is used but in great condition. As previously stated, I obtained it at an estate sale so I do not know the age. If I had to guess I would say it could be 1960s time frame.
There are some very fine scratches, but you have to look hard to find them. There are no dents or gouges. I used a polishing cloth on it, but did not get into the deep corners so you may want to clean it again.
