I believe this medal is from the 1950s, but can not prove it. It is one piece of a rather large Masonic collection that I purchased at an estate sale recently. All the items were in a see-thru display with an info card that said "1940s to 1960s". This medal was first designed and produced in 1929, so it could be from earlier than the info card stated.
This listing is for the Heroes of '76 medal only.
It is in its original plastic case. I don't believe it's ever been out of the case because it was quite embedded in the foam insert. If it has been out, it would have been many years ago. The case is marked "Dieges & Clust N.Y., N.Y. - Prov. R. I.". The Dieges & Clust logo is also on the back of the medal.
I spent quite a while online researching this medal and while I did see several others, I couldn't find one exactly like this one. The pendant portion was the same, but the ribbon was different. Every one that I saw had a wider and shorter ribbon. The ribbon on this one that I'm offering is skinny and long.
The ribbon measures 5/8 inch wide by 1.75 inches long. I looked at the stitching and it's either a very good hand sewn job, or a not so good machine job. The stitching is in great condition, nice and straight, but I just can't tell if it's hand or machine sewn. The clasp is the old style open C closure.
The pendant portion measures 5/8 inch across. The pendant is gold in color with a blue border. The blue area is enamel. There are two rifles in a cross pattern (only the butt and the end of the barrel show). The four corners of those rifles each have a letter. Those letters are E I A R.
Delivery will be via Insured USPS First Class Mail Parcel from Nevada. Buyer to pay delivery charges of $5.95.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items will safely fit into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASED: Sorry, I do not ship to locations outside of the United States.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they come from homes where smoking or pets were present. Unless otherwise stated, all items are sold in the same condition as when I obtained them.
