For the history of Disney dollars, please see below.
This particular Disney Dollar has the unique serial number of A00386538A. It is series 1998. It was produced by the Walt Disney Company. It is used, but has no rips, tears, or writing. It does have some crinkling though. It has the Disney applied glitter on the left side.
Per "History of Disney Dollars" found online:
Disney Dollars were released in 1987; the first series was the A series released at DisneyWorld and Disneyland. The bills stated, "May Be Used As Legal Tender Only At Disneyland". Shortly thereafter both the D series and the 1987A series were released with "May Be Used As Legal Tender Only At Disneyland and Disneyworld" Disney printed 870,000 of the original series for the May 5, 1987 release at both parks.
The "1987A" bill first noticed on September 9, 1987 at Disneyland and a new D series became available on October 2, 1987 at DisneyWorld (A "D" series was not released on May 5, 1987.)
Each bill was series "A" or "D". The former created for Disneyland in Anaheim, California (hence the "A"), and the latter "D" for Walt Disney World in Florida. New Disney dollars have been produced every year since 1987 except 1992, 2004 and 2010.
The bills are redeemable for goods or services at the Disney theme parks, the Disney cruise ships, Disney's Castaway Cay port of call and the Disney Stores, unless indications to the contrary are printed on the individual bills. However, they are not compatible with the coin machines, and must be exchanged for US currency if machines are to be used. In addition, if Disney Dollars are used for purchases and change is given, the change is provided in real US currency.
They are often kept as souvenirs or collected by Disney memorabilia fans, but at Disney resorts, they can also be exchanged back to US currency.
Disney Dollars are created with anti-counterfeiting features such as microprinting, and hard to scan/copy reflective ink and imprinting on the front and back of the bill. In addition the bills are printed with serial numbers and letters which are unique to each bill. The Dollars have small bits of glitter scattered on them.
