This is one of a couple dozen antique prints/photos that I recently picked up at an estate sale. I've never purchased or offered art before because I have zero knowledge of that field, but during this two day estate sale, whatever was left at the end was going to the dump. These pictures just looked too old and too beautiful to let that happen.

This listing is for the one print that you see in my photo. I will be offering all the others as time permits.

I was able to obtain information online for many of the pictures, but after searching for hours I gave up trying to find this one. I can tell you that this is exactly like the others as far as the style, layout, and matt backing and I did find information on about a dozen of them. Of the ones I found, they stated the date of the image on a couple was 1890 - 1900 and several said the image date was 1920s -1930s. The style was listed at 'gothic'.

For this picture, printed across the bottom it says "(Ed.** Alinari) P.I.N. 2018. Firenze - Campanile del Duomo. Apelle o la Pittura. (Attribuito a Giotto.)". I tried to do a google translate on that phrase and all I could get back was something about a painter.

If you'd like to view the other pictures, just put the word Alinari in the search box or click on the yellow box on my home page labeled "Art".

Also, if you are interested in the entire set (probably about 20 of them when I get them all listed), let me know. I'll give you a tremendous deal on the whole lot.

From Wikipedia:
Fratelli Alinari is the world's oldest photographic firm founded in Florence, Italy in 1852. Its archives contains 5.5 million photographs, ranging from daguerreotypes to modern digital photos from around the world. In 1852, Leopoldo Alinari, with his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo, founded the photographic workshop specializing in photographic portraiture, photos of art and historical monuments. Their photos range from vintage prints, glass plate negatives to film and fotocolors.

This photo measures just over 7.5 by 10 inches. It was mounted on a thick pressed matting. (This all looks to be original and mounted at the same time the picture was made). Including the matt the actual size comes out to just under 10 by 12 inches.

I'm not sure what type of image this is because it's permanently attached to the cardboard backing. For fear of damaging it, I choose not to try to loosen an area to feel the thickness to determine the type, but I believe it is a print.

UPDATE: SOMEONE SUGGESTED TO ME THAT THIS MAY BE A PAGE FROM A VERY OLD MAGAZINE, CUT OUT AND APPLIED TO MATTING. IF SO, WHOEVER MADE IT DID A VERY PROFESSIONAL LOOKING JOB.

CONDITION:
For being in the area of 100 years old, I think it's in excellent condition. When lying flat on a table, there is a slight curve to the matt. I would think that could be pressed out if it concerns you.

Let me add that as stated above, I know nothing about art. I have tried to the best of my ability to describe what I see and what I've read about these pictures. If you have further questions, or if you have any info you'd like to offer, just shoot me a 'question for seller" note and I'll try my best to provide a competent answer.

Buyer to pay USPS First Class Mail Parcel delivery charges of $5.75.

All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
