NOTE: There are actually two patterns. One is named ‘Sunbonnets ‘n’ Lace, the other is named Sunbonnet Sue’s Garden. See below for details.

Sunbonnet Sue has graced hundreds of American quilts since she first appeared in Bertha Corbett’s ‘The Sunbonnet Babies Primer’ about 1900. Much of Sue’s enduring charm results from the bright scraps from which her dresses are always made, often bits of fabric left from dresses the quiltmaker made for a favorite daughter or grand daughter.
According to the instructions, the “Sunbonnets ‘n’ Lace pattern will produce a quilt with 12 inch by 12 inch blocks resulting in a quilt size of 70 by 90 inches. The Sunbonnet Sue’s Garden pattern will produce a quilt with 9 inch by 10.5 inch blocks resulting in a quilt size of 82 inches by 91 inches. I would imagine if you’d like a larger (or smaller) quilt, just change the amount of blocks to make.
The pattern and templates offered in this listing were designated in the “Applique” category. You will receive the brochure which tells the sizes, fabric requirements, amount of pieces to cut, and instructions for piecing your quilt. You will also receive the actual templates that is the exact size needed to cut all the pieces of material. The template is made of a hard, yet flexible plastic.
This pattern has never been used. If you receive templates that appears to have been cut out, that's because when first mailed out, templates for 2 or more quilts may have been imprinted on one 8 by 12 inch template sheet. To provide you with just the templates that you'll need for making this quilt, I had to separate them from unrelated templates.
About the series:
This is one of probably a hundred quilt patterns that I will be listing. These patterns were part of a monthly subscription series. Each month, the recipient would receive a pack of 3 different patterns. It took several years to obtain the complete set.

SPECIAL NOTE about SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly and again in November for the holiday season (so 3 times each year) the postal service increases shipping charges. Previously, shipping charges were based on weight and zip code. Now, the postal service has divided the United States in to 8 zones and all packages are charged by weight, size, and destination zone. Since I am in the west, almost all packages travel eastward, resulting in more postage. This year's increases have added an additional 1.36 cents to up to $4.03 on packages. I try to absorb some of the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year, unfortunately, I have to increase the shipping. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the changes when possible.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items can fit safely into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
