I purchased this set of 2 old cow bells about a year ago at an estate sale in Northern California. They are exactly alike except for the size. One is large, the other is medium in size. I've often wondered if they were a set worn by a mother cow and her calf.
At the time of purchase, the larger bell had a tag attached that said "Swiss Cow Bell Set", circa 1930s, hand forged, handcrafted".
The bells have an old rustic look. Around the body of each bell there is a wavy or zigzag decorative line. The larger bell measures roughly 5 inches side to side, 3 inches front to back, 4.5 inches tall. The medium size bell measures roughly 3 inches side to side, 2 inches front to back, 3.25 inches tall. Both bells have strong, loud, secure clappers. As for the metal material they are made from, I'm not sure if they are iron, or brass.
My opinion is that they are in wonderful condition, rust and all, with a great patina. Each bell has a drop of white paint that can probably be popped off but I didn't want to take a chance of damaging either.
Being as they are metal, there is some weight involved. Shipping will be via USPS Insured Priority Mail from Nevada. Buyer to pay $6.95 shipping charges. See below for possible partial rebate of some shipping charges.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT POSSIBLE PARTIAL REFUND OF SHIPPING CHARGES:
Every January the postal service increases shipping charges. Previously, shipping charges were based solely on weight and zip code. This year the postal service went a bit overboard. Now, with this year's increase, the postal service has divided the United States in to 8 zones and all packages are charged by weight, size, and destination zone. This latest increase has added an additional .96 cents to up to $2.83 on packages, depending on their destination. I try to absorb some of the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in several years, but that's getting harder with each increase.
To complicate things even further, Google will not promote or show items for sale unless they have a designated cost, or unless the seller uses calculated shipping. My web host is not equipped to figure calculated shipping, so I have to quote a shipping charge using the east coast as the final destination and then refund over payments. When I return the overage, I usually do so by including cash inside the package when it's shipped. My feedback page will show verification that I do return overpayments.
COMBINED SHIPPING INFORMATION
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items can fit safely into a single box. However, my web host does not have the ability to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with any of that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
International shipping charges also took a tremendous leap. International shipping will now depend on the country. Buyer must contact seller for international shipping charges before making a purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any international transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
