The slide on this bolo tie features a man taking a siesta by a saguaro cactus. The majority of the slide is made with inlaid abalone shell. The metal portion is sterling silver and is marked as such on the back. The slide measures 1.25 inches across the top and tapers in a triangular shape down to 5/8ths across at the bottom. The sides measure 1-1/8th from top to bottom.
The writing on the back has thinned with age and is difficult to read all of it. What I can see is:
RM3 (I'm guessing at the number 3)
GURD or GUND MEX (am also guessing at the gurd or gund, that might say something completely different).
I believe the cord is soft leather. Since the slide can be adjusted, I measured the entire length of the cord and that's 34.5 inches end to end. Depending on where you position the slide, this would probably hang about 16 or 17 inches when around the neck. The tips on the cord are silver in color but do not have a metal content mark.
I obtained this bolo at an estate sale. The lady I purchased it from said it was her fathers. She said she can remember playing with it as a child and that would have been in the late 1940s, so it has to be at least that old.
It has not been cleaned or polished. It has years of great patina and I will leave that for the buyer to see.
Delivery will be from Northern California via Insured USPS First Class Mail Parcel. Since the insurance is for the protection of both of us, I split that cost with the buyer. The delivery charge will be $5.95.
To avoid duplicate shipping charges, please contact seller for combined shipping charges if multiple purchases are desired.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING depends on the country. Buyer must contact seller for shipping quote before making purchase. Seller reserves the right to void any transactions where contact has not been made prior to purchasing.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
